This has been a hard week. A really hard week. I’ve been going through a family crisis so difficult, we have never before been through anything like it. I won’t go into detail, but I have never prayed so hard in my life.
This week, I have been playing the Jesus Culture version of the hymn It is Well With My Soul on repeat. The song, I read, was about a man who lost his four daughters in a shipwreck. Only his wife survived. He sailed out to where she was waiting. On the passage over, the captain pointed out the very spot where the previous ship had gone down. As the man sailed over the very seas that claimed his children’s lives, he through his tears, wrote the famous song. Through it all, he still found faith in the goodness of God. (This is why the song includes a lot of sea and water metaphors).
I think that that song is one of the things that had kept me sane through this crisis. If the man could sing that after his crisis, I can find unmoving faith in mine. Today, I would like to share the song with you. Maybe with whatever you face today, it can bring hope and healing.
Thank you for posting this. I have also endured a family crisis this week. A week ago it was unimaginable, and now it is my reality. I needed to hear this song. God is still good and he’s holding you and your family in his hands. Praying for you!
